Counsellor / Play Therapist for Children & Young People

Opportunity for sessional work

Job title: Counsellor / Play Therapist for Children & Young People

Location: Scarborough

Details: Self-employed sessional work

Pay rate: £35 per session (full details below)

We are inviting expressions of interest for the role of Sessional Counsellor/Play Therapist to work with Children & Young People (CHYP), who have been the victims of crime, under the Victim Counselling Service, which is delivered under a call-off contract with the Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire.

Sessions are to be delivered in Scarborough

Sessional CHYP Counsellors/play therapists must be qualified to Diploma level or equivalent, be accredited with the BACP or the UKCP, or eligible to apply, and have relevant training and experience in counselling children and young people.

If the therapist is working from their own venue, we are happy to be flexible in agreeing a preferred working pattern in terms of days. If the therapist would like to use a CCL venue, there is a room available on Monday and Thursday. In either case we would ask for a commitment to provide several after-school sessions.

The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and police vetting check.

Please note that this is not a staff role. Sessional therapists are engaged on a freelance basis, similar to counsellors in private practice undertaking EAP work. Community Counselling does not guarantee any level of work, which is dependent on the number of children and young people who are referred by the commissioners.
