Ryedale Brief Counselling Service
This is a free service but we welcome donations.
Please do not apply for this service if you live outside of Ryedale
as we are unable to accept your referral.

We offer an assessment and 8 counselling sessions for adults aged 18+, living in Ryedale, who are struggling with a range of issues such as:

-
mild to moderate anxiety
-
mild to moderate depression
-
anger management issues
-
bereavement, and other types of loss
-
the emotional impact of physical illness, health problems or disability
-
relationship difficulties
-
significant life changes
-
work-related stress.

Please note that the counselling service is provided by trainee counsellors on a placement.
All of our trainee counsellors are undertaking approved training courses and have been signed off as fit to practice. They have also undergone a rigorous recruitment process before being offered a placement at Community Counselling. Trainee counsellors are fully supported during their time with us. The triage assessment is conducted by a qualified and experienced counsellor to ensure that we are the appropriate service.

As well as face-to-face sessions at Stanley Harrison House, we can offer clients remote counselling (online or over the telephone).

Pease let us know if you have any access/mobility issues as our rooms are located on the first floor. There is a lift but there are still a few steps to negotiate, so we may need to make alternative arrangements.

We prefer clients to make their own referrals using the referral form on this website. Experience has shown that clients who self-refer have a better understanding of the service we offer and are more likely to engage and show up thus limiting missed sessions and enabling us to see as many clients as possible.
