Ryedale Brief Counselling Service

The waiting list for this service is now closed due to demand.

We will update here and on our social media channels when we re-open the list.

We offer an initial assessment and up to eight counselling sessions (we do not charge for sessions but as a charity welcome donations) for individuals, aged 18 and over, living in Ryedale, with a wide range of issues, such as (this is not a complete list):

  • mild to moderate anxiety

  • mild to moderate depression

  • anger management issues

  • bereavement, and other types of loss

  • the emotional impact of physical illness, health problems or disability

  • relationship difficulties

  • significant life changes

  • work-related stress.

Please note that the counselling service is provided by trainee counsellors on a placement.

All of our trainee counsellors are undertaking approved training courses and have been signed off as fit to practice. They have also undergone a rigorous recruitment process before being offered a placement at Community Counselling. Trainee counsellors are fully supported during their time with us. The triage assessment is conducted by a qualified and experienced counsellor to ensure that we are the appropriate service.

As well as face-to-face sessions at Stanley Harrison House, we can offer clients remote counselling (online or over the telephone).

We ask that clients let us know if they have any access/mobility issues as our rooms are located on the first floor.  There is a lift but there are still a few steps to negotiate, so we may need to make alternative arrangements.

Clients can either self-refer - or be referred – using the referral form on this website.
