Volunteer Counsellors
Why volunteer as a counsellor?
We offer a range of volunteering opportunities, including placements as part of counselling training, opportunities to develop new skills and experience post-qualification, or for experienced counsellors wanting simply to 'give something back' to the community.

We welcome volunteer counsellors who have completed the academic part of their training, but who need to acquire additional clients hours to qualify. However, we do ask for a minimum commitment of 50 client hours as a volunteer, irrespective of how many client hours are needed to qualify.
We offer
-
Monthly online group supervision to volunteers, including trainees on a placement.
-
Mentoring support with an experienced qualified counsellor
-
Financial support for supervision for qualified volunteer counsellors, and
-
Reimbursement of their reasonable travel costs
-
Access to free training/CPD events
Former Volunteer
"[volunteering as a counsellor] gave me the opportunity to gain counselling experience, to work in a professional and extremely supportive environment, and also gave me access to some great training opportunities and involvement in other community projects."
Current Volunteer
“Volunteering has given me the opportunity to gain experience and enjoy the benefits of free supervision and useful CPD. Even though I only see two clients on a Thursday evening for CCL, I do feel like I’m part of a team. That’s particularly valuable for me because currently all my paid counselling work is in private-practice from home.”
Former Volunteer
''Volunteering as a counsellor for Community Counselling was an opportunity for me to gain experience, and to receive the support of a team, which I feel is vital in the counselling profession. I was also able to access extra training alongside other counsellors from other modalities, which was also very valuable."
